Range Improvement Mix
Range Improvement Mix combines dryland tall fescue and orchardgrass with multiple subclovers, Persian clover and balansa clover. The formulation is designed to establish both grass and legume components in dryland range and pasture improvement projects.
Mix Components
Two dryland grasses provide the grass foundation while multiple subclovers and annual clovers add a diverse legume component.
Mix Component Note: Mix components are subject to change based on seed availability. Substitutions may be made with comparable species or varieties when necessary.
Grass & Legume Diversity for Dryland Range
Range Improvement Mix combines two grass types with several annual legumes to create a more diversified dryland range planting.
Dryland Grass Base
Tall fescue and orchardgrass provide complementary grass components within the range planting.
Multiple Subclovers
Three subclover varieties provide additional variation within the low-growing legume portion of the mix.
Biological Nitrogen Fixation
Successfully inoculated and nodulated legumes can fix atmospheric nitrogen within the soil-plant system.
Mixed Plant Structure
Grasses and clovers provide different plant forms, leaf structures and growth habits within the same stand.
Range Improvement Focus
The mix is designed for projects where both grass and legume components are desired as part of dryland range establishment or improvement.
Forage Diversity
Combining grasses and broadleaf legumes provides more forage diversity than a single-species range planting.
A Balanced Grass & Clover Range Mix
Range Improvement Mix differs from the Legume Range Booster by incorporating a dedicated grass component. Dryland tall fescue and orchardgrass create the grass framework while several clovers provide the legume portion of the stand.
Dryland Establishment Note: Stand establishment and species expression depend heavily on rainfall, planting timing, soil conditions, temperature and local growing conditions. Dryland performance can vary substantially between sites and seasons.
