Dryland Range / Erosion Mix
Dryland Range / Erosion Mix combines three grasses with vetch and four clover types. The mixture is designed for dryland range, revegetation and erosion-focused projects where establishing a diverse vegetative cover is the primary objective.
Mix Components
Three grasses combine with vetch and several annual clovers to provide both grass and broadleaf vegetation within a dryland planting.
Mix Component Note: Mix components are subject to change based on seed availability. Substitutions may be made with comparable species or varieties when necessary.
Diverse Vegetation for Dryland Sites
The mix combines grasses and legumes to establish multiple plant types across dryland range and erosion-focused sites.
Grass-Based Soil Cover
Annual ryegrass, Blando brome and intermediate ryegrass provide a grass component that can contribute vegetative cover as the stand develops.
Legume Diversity
Vetch and multiple clovers add broadleaf growth and diversify the vegetation beyond grasses alone.
Biological Nitrogen Fixation
Successfully inoculated and nodulated legumes can fix atmospheric nitrogen within the soil-plant system.
Mixed Plant Structure
Grasses, vetch and clovers provide different growth forms, leaf structures and rooting patterns within the stand.
Revegetation Focus
The mix can be considered for dryland projects where establishing vegetation over exposed or disturbed soil is an important objective.
Range Application
The grass-and-legume combination also provides a diversified planting option for dryland range establishment and improvement.
Built for Both Range & Ground Cover
Dryland Range / Erosion Mix combines grass species with several legumes rather than relying on a single plant type. The result is a diversified planting designed for projects where vegetative cover and range establishment are both priorities.
Dryland Establishment Note: Vegetation establishment and erosion-control performance depend on rainfall, soil preparation, slope, planting timing, soil conditions and local weather. Supplemental erosion-control practices may be needed on steep or highly disturbed sites.
