Daikon Radish Seeding Rate
For a pure cover-crop stand, a practical starting recommendation is approximately 8–12 pounds per acre. Good seed-to-soil contact and shallow placement are important because daikon radish is a relatively small-seeded brassica.
When Daikon Radish is included in a multi-species cover crop mix, use a lower component rate so the radish does not dominate slower-growing grasses, legumes or other broadleaf species.
Seeding rate may vary with drilling versus broadcasting, seed lot characteristics, planting conditions and the intended role of radish within the cover crop system.
