Beef & Sheep Mix
Beef & Sheep Mix combines cool-season pasture grasses with four forage legumes to create a diverse irrigated pasture stand. The formulation provides multiple grass growth habits alongside clovers and trefoil for a balanced grass-and-legume pasture.
Mix Components
Three pasture grasses and four legumes provide multiple growth habits within a diversified irrigated pasture stand.
Mix Component Note: Mix components are subject to change based on seed availability. Substitutions may be made with comparable species or varieties when necessary.
A Diverse Grass & Legume Pasture
Beef & Sheep Mix combines complementary forage grasses and legumes for an irrigated pasture designed around productive vegetative growth and pasture diversity.
Grass Diversity
Tall fescue, festulolium and intermediate rye provide several grass growth habits within the same pasture stand.
Legume Component
Ladino, strawberry and red clovers together with trefoil add broadleaf forage and additional plant diversity throughout the pasture.
Biological Nitrogen Fixation
Properly inoculated and nodulated legumes can fix atmospheric nitrogen, contributing nitrogen to the pasture system.
Mixed Forage Structure
Combining upright grasses with broadleaf legumes creates a more varied forage canopy than a single-species pasture.
Irrigated Pasture Fit
The formulation is designed for managed irrigated pasture systems where adequate soil moisture can support continued forage growth.
Cattle & Sheep Use
Beef & Sheep Mix provides a multi-species pasture option for producers managing cattle, sheep or mixed grazing operations.
Establish First. Graze Afterward.
New pasture seedings need time to develop adequate roots and plant structure before livestock are introduced. Allow the new stand to become well established before beginning grazing, then use managed rotational grazing to help maintain the pasture.
Pasture Management Note: Pasture performance varies with irrigation, soil fertility, planting date, grazing pressure, livestock stocking rate and local growing conditions. New plantings should be well established before grazing begins.
